two rooms

in the first room

there’s a man

who believes that he is God

and the crowds throbbing beneath him

offer worship through applause

in the next room

there’s a man

barely breathing, bleeding out

and the heart throbbing within him

offers worship to its God

how can God have these two rooms in His house ?

no matter how I try, I can’t figure it out

one man lives to reject Him

another man dies to protect Him

and there are still more rooms down the hall…

in the third room

there’s a girl

just a moment in this world

and the joy crying around her

offers worship to her God

in the next room

born, but still

just a moment in this world

and the pain crying around her

screaming out the name of God

how can God have these two rooms in His house ?

no matter how I try, I can’t figure it out

one child lives to be dear to Him

another child dies to be near to Him

and there are still more rooms down the hall…

how can He feel so many things at once ?

are they a joke to Him, the things we want ?

how can He give when He lets it get taken away ?

in the big room

down the hall

the place of faith where I learned to crawl

ah, we learn

and then we leave

and we forget to just believe

in Him –

how can I have these two rooms in my house ?

no matter how I try, I can’t figure it out

the room of Fear - no surprise to Him

the room of Love - a delight to Him

and there are so many ways I will fall …

how can God have these two rooms in His house ?

no matter how I try, I can’t figure it out

if I say that I’ll give to Him all I am – gives sin to Him

and there are still more rooms

and there are still more rooms

and there are still more rooms

down the hall..
