EARLY INFLUENCES
As a boy, I sacrificed sleep to listen to the music coming out of the radio beside my bed - which birthed a fascination with and passion for crafting music, lyric, and sound into a contained work of art from first note to last noise.
The lush and complex sonic productions of Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush were the seeds of my interest in being a Producer. The crisp sounds of Engineering legends Hugh Padgham and Bob Clearmountain hooked me into countless hours under headphones. The lyrical exploration and intellect of Paul Simon convinced me that music could not only entertain, but make you think - and as a result, change you. And the soaring vocals of Morten Harket (a-ha ) and the pure, honest vocals of Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket ) made me want to learn how to sing.
As for the actual songwriting - the music - the influence of genres... are too many and diverse to explore here.
MUSICAL HISTORY
I took piano and trumpet lessons from the age of 4. I quit piano lessons so that I could explore songwriting, but I kept practicing my trumpet...
... and was admitted to Berklee College of Music on a Trumpet Performance Scholarship. I graduated with a degree in Music Production & Engineering...
... which prepared me to be hired by legendary Mastering Engineer Bob Ludwig in 1993; I worked for Gateway Mastering & DVD until I left in 2003 to pursue other passions in my life.
FIRST RELEASE
I had the unbelievable blessing - as an unsigned artist - to have Grammy Award-winning Mix Engineer/Producer Phil Nicolo (philnicolo.com) mix my debut album.
Soon after its release, I got invited to play live - most notably, to open for Dove Award-winner and Grammy-nominee Nichole Nordeman (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nichole_Nordeman)
After that opportunity and just a few more performances, playing live just never grew on me and the strain of playing live as a solo artist who needed to be forever finding backing musicians while caring for a marriage and young children was too much and so I stopped accepting gigs.
TWENTY-FOUR YEARS passed...
From 2000 - 2023, I raised a family. I went to Graduate School. I worked in the non-profit sector for 6 years, and then I founded a business.
2023
I created a home recording space and began writing, recording, and mixing again.
2024
Grammy Award-winning Mastering Engineer Adam Ayan (ayanmastering.com) agreed to master the new album.
4 OCTOBER 2024
The album two Rooms was released.
